ELSA Training

An ELSA is an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant.

South East Psychology has a long and successful track record of providing ELSA training and on-going support and supervision for ELSAs in schools.

The ELSA programme is a five day course delivered by two HCPC registered educational psychologists. It aims to equip teaching assistants, teachers or other staff such as Learning Mentors or Family Liaison Officers with the skills and resources to provide direct individual and small group support to students with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Follow up group supervision/ support is a compulsory element of the training. The training is suitable for staff working in primary, secondary and special schools.

The comprehensive course covers:
• Emotional literacy/ raising emotional awareness
• Building Resilience/ Self esteem
• Active listening and communication skills
• Self regulation/ anger management
• Working with puppets
• Social skills
• Friendships skills

Fee: £650 per person. The cost includes all course materials, resources, lunch, refreshments and follow-up support for a year.
We are also able to run a bespoke course at your school or institution for up to 12 people (£6000).
